On Monday we collaboratively performed Frankencrayon the Picture Book. This was based on the picture book by Michael Hall published by Green Willow Books in 2016.
In addition to the sharing of the text in a different manner we were also learning about the parts of a book: verso, title page, blurb, flyleaf, cover.
Students were allocated a part for each page and had to take turns in reading the text. Several pages were “crowd” scenes, most of which required a masses “Screeeech”!
The students reacted well to the experience, with many using different voices, and adding gestures appropriate to the text.
It was lovely to watch their faces and to see the respect and assistance that was displayed to some of the less confident readers.
